Advocacy and Networking
The main focus of WIMSA's work relates to campaigning and lobbying on behalf of the San. Over the course of time, WIMSA's staff and representatives from San communities frequently represent WIMSA to other NGOs, local and national Governments, international agencies and donors
At the present time, very few individual San people possess the necessary skills needed to effectively represent the regional San community to these organisations and agencies. However, by the use of skills training, peer support and as a direct result of WIMSA's Regional Education Programme, WIMSA remains hopeful that as time passes, an increasing number of San individuals and groups will become strong champions and negotiators in their own right.

At the request of the San, WIMSA has formulated a number of programmes which relate directly to the San's biggest concerns and which are linked closely to the need for campaigning and influencing policy and practices. These programmes have been designed in consultation with San activists from across the southern African region and are based upon these general themes:
[ Overview ] [ Education ] [ Human Rights ] [ San Representation & Leadership ] [ Culture & Cultural Rights ]
